School's pride over Royals tycoon

A HEADTEACHER has spoken of his pride that the Russian tycoon bidding to take over Reading Football Club is one of his former pupils.

Anton Zingarevich, 29, whose newly-founded company, Thames Sports Investments, looks set to acquire a 51% stake in the Championship club, was a pupil at Bearwood College at Sindlesham from 1998-2000.

Stephen Aiano, headteacher at the posh independent school, said: "We are proud that Anton Zingarevich was a scholar at Bearwood College.

"Our scholars and staff are big supporters of Reading Football Club and we are delighted that a Bearwood Old Royal - one of our alumni - is taking up such an active role locally."

  Says it all really. Elitism in full effect. The above move by RFC is just another fine example of another British institution falling to overseas hands. I cannot see how any indigenous member of the UK can honestly consider another nail in our culture a positive thing. Goodnight England, you were fun whilst you lasted...
