A DRIVER had a lucky escape when his lorry caught fire on the M4 last night.

Firefighters from Whitley Wood and Wokingham Road were called to the westbound stretch between junctions 11-12 at 10.25pm to find a Polish trailer lorry on fire. The driver pulled over onto the hard shoulder after an electrical fault in the engine burst into flames.

Whitley Wood crew manager Lee Glover said the two fire crews took more than an hour to tackle the blaze, which left the cabin entirely burnt out, but the driver was uninjured.
