Students' 'sell-out' attack on MP Wilson

ACTIVIST students have tried to airbrush from history their MP's time in charge of their union in protest at his position on tuition fees.
Reading East MP Rob Wilson was president of Reading University Students' Union (RUSU) in 1987. This week, students opposed to rises in tuition fees accused him of "betrayal", covering up his name on the university's board commemorating past RUSU presidents with a sticker reading "sell out".
Jess Lazarczyk, RUSU's president, said: "This is a small stunt that sends a powerful message of betrayal and marks the fact students are refusing to be ignored by their local MP."
Mr Wilson said he never pledged to oppose tuition fee rises, and refused a direct request to do so during a Reading University debate on November 19 last year. He said: "I have been entirely consistent with students at Reading University. I have answered all questions put to me by the student magazine in an open and honest way and am always happy to meet students when requested

Hah, what a load of rubbish. Unless by "meeting students" he means removing all of the posters from the front of his Reading office and running off to Westminster in order to avoid us!
