CAMPAIGNERS trying to save crumbling Edwardian baths for future generations held their biggest fundraiser yet.
The King’s Meadow Campaign says its Save The Swimming Pool charity ball and auction was a great success, raising more than £500.
The Penta Hotel, in Oxford Road, hosted the ball on Saturday, October 2, with special guests Suzanne Kendall and director Robbie Moffat from new British film Got To Run.
The ex Reading University student told guests at the ball: “We need your support to save this architectural gem. Most of the big funding schemes require match funding from community sources. We must raise about £2m and in the present economic climate it won’t be easy.”
Local band Tequila Mockingbird kept dancers on their toes and lots of Reading businesses donated items for the charity auction.
