A CAR has been destroyed in a fire.
Fire fighters from Wokingham Road were called to the car blaze at 1.30am this morning (Saturday) where a 2004 GTI Golf was damaged almost past recognition.
The dark grey sports car with alloy wheels was found on the footpath by the river on Chomley Road and it took fire crews half an hour to extinguish the blaze.
Crew manager James Blake said: “We could only recognised it was a Golf from the rear bumper, the rest of the car was unregonisable..”
It is believed the fire was started inside the car. Police have taken down the registration plate number of the car and are looking into the incident.
