POLICE are questioning a man in connection with a suspected heroin death over the weekend.
A 36-year-old man from Reading was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter in connection with the death of 41-year-old Colin Donald.
He died at the Royal Berkshire Hospital after being taken ill in Great Knollys Street on Friday and a post-mortem examination is due to take place tomorrow.
Post-mortems on the two other men who died on Friday and Saturday, which police are linking to a bad or pure batch of heroin, proved "inconclusive" and more tests are needed.
Det Insp Nick Watts, from Reading CID, said this afternoon: “Our investigation into these three deaths continues.
“It remains too early for us to say whether the deaths of these men have been caused by contaminated heroin or a particularly strong batch of the drug, but it is important that drug users in the area, and the wider community, are aware of this possibility.”
- The man police are interviewing is being held at Loddon Valley police station in Lower Earley
