Police fear heroin behind third death
A THIRD man is thought to have died from using contaminated or unusually strong heroin.
The 61-year-old man was taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital on Friday night, where he later died.
Police believe his death might be linked to those of two other men in Reading this weekend, who died at the hospital after suffering heart attacks last night. One was in his 40s and the age of the other has not yet been confirmed.
Police said in a statement: "At this stage, it is suspected that the deaths may be linked to a contaminated, or bad, or pure batch of heroin, however this cannot be confirmed until medical tests are carried out on the deceased men.
"At this stage, it is not known what the men died from, however police are warning other drug users to be vigilant."
