SOME of the town's most popular bands have joined forces to support Berkshire Autistic Society this Saturday at an organised Music Marathon.
Emma Sowden, 36, Employability Manager for Reading University, was prevented from participating in the Reading Half Marathon by a broken toe, so organised this event to make up for the sponsorship money she could have made.
She said: "I can't run but I can certainly run something!"
The event will take place at Deja Vu in St Mary's Butts on Saturday from 7pm-midnight, headlined by local band Amy's Ghost. Other bands include Lindsey Kate Dolbear, Matt Dixey, Paula Curtis, Chris Beales, Damien Passmore, Rob Sowden, Galapagos, Polar Sky and Burnt Tomorrow.
Those who have already supported the charity by running in the Reading Half Marathon will be VIPs at the event, and their dedication will be rewarded with a champagne reception. There will be a raffle with prizes including a meal for two at Jamie's Italian, piano lessons, luxury manicures from H-Room, Marks and Spencer vouchers, champagne, and Indian banquets.
It costs £3 on the door with all profits going to Berkshire Autistic Society.
