TRAFFIC flows at Junction 11 have shifted again this week as the massive project heads into its final phase.

Since Monday, motorists approaching the A33 Mereoak roundabout from either Basingstoke Road or Mereoak Lane have to follow new directions.

Drivers coming along Basingstoke Road from Three Mile Cross and heading north towards Reading must now turn left at the roundabout and use a new temporary roundabout on the A33 where they can U-turn and then keep travelling north. Drivers approaching the A33 Mereoak roundabout from Mereoak Lane and wanting to travel south towards Basingstoke will be directed left up to the main Junction 11 roundabout where they can U-turn and follow the A33 southbound.

Drivers travelling northbound and southbound along the A33 can continue to cross the Mereoak junction as normal, but the northbound right turn into Three Mile Cross is no longer available so drivers must U-turn at Junction 11. There are electronic signs in place warning of the changes and nearby businesses, schools and emergency services are getting detailed information on the changes.

The £65m project, which began in summer 2008, is on schedule to be finished by the summer.

Reading and Wokingham Borough Council are working jointly on the scheme with the Highways Agency and contractor Laing O'Rourke is doing the construction work.
