STADIUM Way industrial estate has been sold for £17.4m.

The 222,713 sq ft estate was bought by Salmon Harvester Opportunity Fund (SHOF), a joint venture between Salmon Harvester Properties and NFU Mutual. It was previously owned by Wellcome Trust.

The estate, which generates £1.35m annually in rent, is home to Screwfix, Wolseley Centres, Travis Perkins, Howden Joinery and Newey and Eyre.

Matthew Meaden, fund manager for SHOF said: "It's been owned by the same company for about 15 years and it's become a little bit unloved. We want to improve it so it appeals to local and national companies."

He said it was too early to name specific improvements but he said Reading's economy and demographics offered encouraging signs.

He added: "There are probably parts of the country where we would not be investing but Reading being a strong South East location, gives us quite a lot of confidence."
