STUDENTS are cleaning up in a campaign to shift as much litter as possible.
The big tidy-up is going on across Reading University's Bulmershe campus and other areas and another is planned for Pitcroft Avenue and Grange Avenue to pick up litter, deal with overflowing bins and help grounds staff clear other rubbish and weeds to brighten up the environment.
Students' union representatives have already started helping out, and Lib Dem society president Mark Whiley said: "By working together as a student community, even with such a small token as this, we can improve the learning and living environment for all Reading students, improve our commitment to working with others in our local communities and present the university in a good way to people who may want to apply."
Volunteers willing to help clear up Grange Avenue and Pitcroft Avenue can meet at 1pm at its junction with Wokingham Road, outside the PFC takeaway, on Saturday, February 13.
