WHILE the Federation of Small Businesses estimated £600million a day was being lost through the snow in the UK, some traders were busier than ever.
The FSB bases it figure on 10% of staff staying away but Thames Valley organiser Karen Durcan says the plus side is that weather has revealed the value of small local retailers.
She said: "This has been a reminder of how important local shops are to us. In Pangbourne unless you had a 4 x 4, you could not get out. All those people relied on their local high street. There has been a return to using the local shops. It has been great to see people walking along with bags from the local shops."
