SHAM Naib has seen so little of the recession he has just opened a glittering second shop opposite his current store.

Former schools inspector Sham, who opened SDK Jewellers in Cross Street in 1991, has long wanted to have a specialist watch shop and so when Graham & Green closed across the road, he knew the time was right.

He got his hands on the empty unit which ticked all the boxes and wound up with a top quality outlet - Watch Shop - where 47 brands are on sale. Sham said: "There is no store in the southern half of England with these kind of top quality fittings."

Watches sell for up to £1,000 and Sham now operates online from www.sdkjewellers.co.uk

Five extra staff have been taken on and Sham says he still has three vacancies, adding: "We have not seen any downturn. That's why we have been able to open another business with this kind of standard and quality."
