THESE smiling faces paint a picture of the good time enjoyed by children taking part in celebrations to mark national Playday.

Bouncy castles, craft activities and games were part of the fun in Prospect Park organised by Reading Borough Council.

The Playday annual campaign is co-ordinated by Play England, part of the National Children's Bureau charity.

Play England regional development officer John Hayle said this year's theme was "Make Time", and added: "We really need to make opportunities for children to get out there and enjoy some of the facets of childhood that older generations took for granted."

Research commissioned by the charity to coincide with the Playday on Wednesday last week found 72% of parents want to be able to spend more time playing with their children.
