ARTISTS open their homes and workshops this weekend for the annual Whiteknights Studio Trail.
Visitors can stroll around the Reading University area to inspect and buy works by 34 local artists.
The trail was the brainchild of artists Susanna Beer, Pip Hall and Jenny Halstead in 2001 and Ms Halstead said: 'The plan was for artists to open their studios or share exhibition space, to show to the general public their work, methods and tools, to promote and encourage interest within the community.
'Now in our ninth year, and judging by the continuing interest and enthusiasm of our visitors, these aims seem to have been achieved.'
Members will be showing off ceramics, basket-weaving, jewellery, painting, photography, print-making, stained-glass, textiles and weaving. The trail has benefited from grants from South East Arts and Reading Borough Council and sponsorship from Reading University.
The 19 venues, including Alfred Sutton, Redlands and Leighton Park schools and the Museum of English Rural Life, will be open from 11am-6pm on both Saturday and Sunday. Refreshments will be served 11am-midday.
