A FLASHER who targeted a woman as she walked under a canal bridge yesterday may be the man responsible for a series of distressing exposures.

The 26-year-old victim from Newtown was walking on the footpath by the Kennet and Avon Canal where it goes under the two bridges near Ben's Thai Restaurant at 10.45am.

The man had been lurking in the area and tried to attract her attention before lowering his trousers. He then walked off in the direction of the Jolly Angler pub, away from the town centre.

PC Tristan Khezrzadeh, neighbourhood specialist officer for Newtown, said: "We believe this is the same man who was involved in other similar incidents last month in the same area. If you think you have seen this man please contact me.

"I would urge anyone who has experienced a similar incident to report this to police immediately."

The man is white, nearly 6ft tall, of medium build and aged 35 to 40. He was wearing dark coloured sports clothing and a beanie-style grey hat.

Contact PC Khezrzadeh through the 24-hour police enquiry centre on 0845 850 5505 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
