ONE in four people living in Reading were not born in the UK according to the latest immigration figures.
The survey from the Office for National Statistics put the town above the national average of 13 per cent and second highest in Berkshire.
In the year ending June 2014 a total of 3,370 international migrants arrived in Reading borough with the intention of staying for more than one year.
In the same period 1,787 people also left the area to live elsewhere.
The highest proportions of non-UK born residents were in the capital.
The only five areas to have half or more of people living there as foreign nationals were in London.
They were Brent (56% non-UK born), Kensington and Chelsea (55%), Newham (51%), Harrow (51%), and Westminster (50%).
The figures for Berkshire were as follows:
Bracknell Forest - 14%
Reading - 25%
Slough - 40%
West Berkshire - 11%
Windsor and Maidenhead - 17%
Wokingham - 14%
