(RE: ‘Tesco’s Unlikely 13th’, Reading Chronicle, October 20)
Well, good news for the small shops in Oxford Road. It’s a wonder the shopkeepers didn’t put out the flags for the time being.
I wonder what Tesco will do next? But, for the time being, just go along hoping for the best.
Reading Council told Tesco it couldn’t open its new shop in Oxford Road because of extra traffic, that right?
And if so, what about the mosque in the same road? When open, it will cause a lot of trouble in this area.
The answer is simple. Reading Council didn’t know how to say no to them.
To finish this letter to the shopkeepers in Oxford Road, don’t despair. Tesco has not got any hairdressers or barbers. Not yet! So you are safe for a few years.
