This year, The Griffin Pub, in Church Street Caversham took part in The Big Wigs Challenge in aid of the Sue Ryder Hospice at Nettlebed.

The fundraising went on over the summer, with a charity auction, raffles, change collections and culminated with general manager Anne-Marie McCarthy’s skydive on October 2. The pub has raised more than £7,500 with donations still coming in.

The charity auction and hog roast was the main event. This alone raised nearly two-thirds of the total.

The Griffin would therefore like to give a big thank-you to Bridges Estate Agency, the Adlem family at Caversham Coach Works, Suprema Dry Cleaners, Zappas, Thames River Cruises, Planet Nails, Nino’s restaurant, Dorothy Paige, Myalacart, John Townsend, Pretty Green Clothing and the other businesses and individuals who also donated so generously and wish to remain anonymous. The Griffin would also like to thank its team for all their hard work and its guests and the people of Caversham for their support.
