* WOKINGHAM District Council have failed to address the needs of parents and children.
They have built lots of additional homes in Lower Earley, and then closed Ryeish Green School. They have made no sensible consideration for a new local school in this area.
I sympathise with the residents of southern Lower Earley, as we all want the best for our children. However, the parents of these children knew they were not in the Maiden Erlegh catchment area when they purchased their homes. It is completely unfair then to penalise families such as mine, who deliberately chose to live in Park Ward, East Reading in order to be within this catchment area.
Maiden Erlegh is the nearest local secondary school for nearly every family in Park Ward.
Attending the public consultation last week, the only conclusion you can draw is that Wokingham Borough Council is trying to actively exclude Reading children. I made an educated decision for my children to live in the Maiden Erlegh catchment area and the only fair and democratic approach would be to allow my children and others in Park Ward to continue to be in this catchment area.
