IS IT a bird, is it a plane? No, it's the new air ambulance helicopter.

The EC135 Eurocopter is now fully operational and will be used to help people in Berkshire, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire.

Colin Lee, MBE, chairman of the trustees of the Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance Trust, an independent charity, said: "The new helicopter means we now have the ability to deliver a faster, and therefore more effective emergency service in providing medical attention to those who need it.

"It will also give us increased capacity to enable a carer, such as a concerned parent, to accompany the patient to hospital.

"I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to everyone who has supported the trust. Our commitment to making improvements to the service will continue."

The helicopter, which is widely used by police and ambulance services, will be on public display for the first time at the Ferrari Funday at Newbury Showground on Sunday.
