CARERS can find out about support or enjoy a break at a range of events during National Carers" Week.

The week runs from Monday, June 8, to Sunday, June 14, and will include talks, activities, and drop-in sessions for carers of all ages.

Sport:

Reading Borough Council"s Sport Reading team will be holding a Carers" Activities Day from 10am-3pm on Tuesday, June 9, at Rivermead Leisure Complex in Richfield Avenue, west Reading.

Carers are welcome with or without the person they care for and can find out about keeping fit, including exercises for adults with disabilities. Activities will include Tai Chi, yoga, wheelchair bowls sport boccia, dancing, trampolining and playing the Nintendo Wii Fit computer game. Information roadshow:

A roadshow with general information for carers as well as home safety advice from the fire brigade will be out and about for people to visit.

It will be outside Morrisons supermarket in Basingstoke Road, Whitley, from 10am-4pm on Monday, June 8.

On Thursday, June 11, it will be in Reading town centre"s Broad Street outside Marks and Spencer from 11am-7pm.

It will also be outside the Civic Centre in Dusseldorf Wat from 10am-4pm on Friday, June 12.

Creative courses for adults:

There will be the chance to try a range of taster courses offered by adult learning centre New Directions at its South Reading base in Northumberland Avenue from 10am-3.30pm on Wednesday, June 10. There will also be information about carers" services. Contact New Directions on 0845 842 0012.

Reiki and Indian head massage sessions will be 10am-12pm and 2.30-4.30pm.

Creative writing workshops will be 12-1.30pm and 2-3.30pm.

IT for the terrified will be 1-3pm.

Scented sachet making will be 2-3.30pm.

Beginners" batik will be 12.30-2.30pm.

Make a corsage will be 2.30-4.30pm.

Young carers" activities:

Relaxation session will be held from 3.30-7pm on Wednesday, June 10.

Activities at the New Direction"s South Reading centre in Northumberland Avenue, Whitley:

How to chill will be from 4-5pm and 5-7pm.

Traditional fan form Tai Chi will be 4-5pm.

Funky painted magnet sessions will be 4-5pm and 5.15-6.15pm.

Street dance will be 5.15-6.15pm.

Design your own pizza will be 4-5pm.

Activities at the Academy Sport and Leisure Centre in Northumberland Avenue in Whitley:

Design and decorate a plate will be 4-5pm and 5.15-6.15pm.

A craft table will be open 5-7pm.

Information days:

There will be drop-in sessions with The Princess Royal Trust Carers" Service at its Carers" Centre in Cross Street, Reading town centre, from 10am-2pm and 2-4pm on Wednesday, June 10, and 10am-1pm on Friday, June 12.

Mental health information will be available in the entrance foyer at Prospect Park hospital in Honey End Lane, Tilehurst, from 10am-3pm on Wednesday, June 10.

A substance misuse information session for carers and families will be 10am-3pm in the council chamber at the Civic Centre in Dusseldorf Way, Reading town centre.

There will also be information for carers at the Dee Park Fun Day from 12-5pm on Saturday, June 13, in Lyon Square in Tilehurst.
