JEWELLERY worth thousands of pounds was stolen from a pensioner as she travelled from Birmingham to Reading.
Transport police officers believe other victims could have been targeted by the crook on the same train.
The 70-year-old victim left her bag in a luggage rack on the 2.30pm train from Birmingham New Street on Monday, June 19.
When she got off the train at Reading she found the bag, along with the jewellery and personal belongings inside it, had been taken.
Investigators later found the empty bag on a tow path near a canal in Leamington and think the mysterious thief fled the train at Leamington Spa.
PC Katherine Billingham, said: “We believe that there may have been other victims of theft on board this service, and I would like to hear from anyone who has any information or would like to report anything who has not yet spoken to police.
“If you recognise the man shown in the CCTV images, please call BTP on 0800 40 50 40 or text 61016, quoting reference number 372 17/07/17.”
British Transport Police officers say the man in the CCTV may hold vital information into the theft.
