AN ANGRY driver chased a runner through the town before attacking him in broad daylight, leaving him with a broken collar bone.

A 25-year-old was running on the pavement in Kings Road heading towards Cemetery Junction at around 3.10pm on Sunday, March 12.

An argument erupted between him and the driver of a white 4x4 car. The driver followed the jogger in his car before leaping from it and attacking him.

The runner was taken to Royal Berkshire Hospital for treatment after sustaining a broken collar bone, as well as cuts and grazes.

Police are pursuing potential leads on the suspect after the incident of grievous bodily harm in broad daylight.

The offender is described as a white man in his forties, around 5ft 9ins, of stocky build, with little or no hair.

Investigating officer, Marius York, said: "This incident took place at a busy time of day, in a location where we believe there would have been a number of witnesses.

"We would like to speak to anyone who witnessed this incident, including a family who stopped their car and spoke to the victim straight after the assault.
