POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a motorist failed to stop when his car hit a 71-year-old pedestrian in Reading yesterday afternoon.
The pensioner sustained serious injuries, and is currently being treated at the John Ratcliffe Hospital in Oxford.
However, police are keen to speak to the driver of the car which was involved in the collision on the Shinfield Road at about 2.45pm on December 23.
Police have not given any details about the car, but said that it failed to stop following the incident and then continued in the direction of Reading town centre.
The road was closed while an investigation took place following the incident, but has now reopened.
Investigating officer PC Jennifer Laurie of the Joint Operations Unit for Road Policing has appealed for any witnesses.
She said: “If anyone was in the area and saw this incident, or has any information which could relate to it, I would ask them to contact the Thames Valley Police non-emergency number 101.”
