A 37-year-old man from Reading has been jailed for six years for raping a woman in Southcote.
Jon Womack of Coronation Square, Reading was found guilty at Reading Crown Court of raping a 30-year-old woman in June 2014.
He was convicted last month by a jury on a majority verdict today after a 10-day trial.
However Womack was acquitted on a second charge of rape of a woman aged over-16, and assault by penetration of a female aged over-13 years of age.
Today, at Reading Crown Court, he was sentenced and jailed for six years for the rape.
The offence took place on June 25, 2014, in Southcote. He wasn't charged until the following January.
Investigating officer, Detective Constable Gary Tull of Reading CID, revealed that even two years after the incident, the impact on the woman had been severe.
He explained: “Since the incident in June 2014 the emotional impact on the victim has been substantial.
"The victim has had to relive the fear and indignity of the assault when recounting her experience in court. This conviction will help her move on with her life and will protect the public from a serious sexual offender.”
