REAL ale buffs have stepped up to save a struggling community group from shutting down.
Reading's Campaign for Real Ale [CAMRA] branch was on the verge of closure after a number of its committee members decided to step down.
Fears were raised that the popular Beer Festival and Ale Trail events would be scrapped next year unless the group could be rebuilt.
However, following a successful branch meeting, 10 of the 11 vacant posts have been filled, meaning the branch can continue to operate.
Brian Jones, membership secretary, said: "We are delighted to announce that 10 of the 11 vacant posts were filled at the branch meeting on December 7.
"The eleventh, that of young person's rep, may yet be filled.
"Three roles, including the important post of chairman, will be shared between two members.
"This means that the Branch is no longer at risk and our plans for 2018 such as the Beer Festival and the Ale Trail continue on as usual.
"Thanks to everyone who came along and put themselves forward."
