SHOWBIZ star Piers Morgan pledged an exclusive auction prize to Royal Berkshire Hospital (RBH) to help raise cash for state-of-the-art incubators.

The 52-year-old television personality donated VIP tickets and a champagne reception for Piers Morgan's Life Stories next year.

He was inspired by weather presenter Laura Tobin, whose daughter Charlotte was looked after by Buscot Ward staff when she was born prematurely last summer.

Babies in Buscot Support (BIBS), the charity for RBH's neonatal unit, teamed up with Mrs Tobin to raise £80,000 to fund two new incubators for the ward.

The 36-year-old said: "BIBS played a big role in looking after Charlotte and our family. I had no idea that much of the expensive medical kit, including the incubators had been paid for by BIBS fundraising over the years.

"Before Charlotte was discharged, we spent a few nights in one of the flats on the ward, refurbished with charity funds, where we could look after Charlotte on our own, but - if needed - within reach of the nurses. This was invaluable and helped build up confidence, as it can be nerve-wracking being on your own after weeks of 24 hour hospital care.

We'd like to thank everyone who helped care for Charlotte and for all the love they gave her during the start of her fragile life. I'm certain it's because of this care that she is happy and strong.

"Without the support of BIBS, the Buscot Ward wouldn't be able to provide the medical and personal support they do.

"I'm so happy I can help to raise money and awareness for BIBS. My colleagues have been amazing, constantly sending their love and support and are delighted to help by offering prizes."

The winner will have the chance to access the show's green room and meet a celebrity of their choice from the upcoming series, which sees Mr Morgan grill people about their lives.

Also up for grabs are a behind the scenes tour of Good Morning Britain and tickets to see Tipping Point Lucky Stars and a chance to meet presenter Ben Shephard.
