A MAN appeared in court today charged with murdering his wife.

It comes after tragic Simone Grainger was found dead at her home in Windsor Way, Calcot, on Saturday November 4.

Steven Grainger, 32, appeared at Reading Magistrates' Court charged with a single count of murder.

Short-haired Grainger, wearing a red checked shirt and a blue cardigan, spoke only to confirm his name and address.

The 32-year-old did not enter a plea after the charge was read out to him and will appear at Reading Crown Court tomorrow [Thursday].

District Judge Shoman Khan said: “We have no power to consider the issue today.

“This case is to be sent to Reading Crown Court, the date of the hearing is tomorrow [Thursday].

A member of the public gallery stormed out of the court room as Grainger was led into the dock.

There was no application for bail and Grainger was remanded in custody.
