Pupils hope to be hired
A READING school is hoping to be hired after reaching the final stages of a nationwide search for apprentices.
A team of pupils from Kendrick school in London Road were praised for their efforts in developing their own beauty product, a challenge set by the Financial Mail on Sunday as part of their 'Breaking the Mould' Apprentice competition.
Josie Thum, Sherrie Talgeri and Seren Charles, all aged 15, and 16-year-olds Rachel Davey, Torie Wyndham and Alicia Hughes-White, developed a range of brightly coloured neon make-up which glows in the dark, impressing judges with an eye-catching advertising campaign suitable for their young target market.
The team will travel to London tomorrow (Friday) to meet with NatWest business advisors who will give them support with their business plan and advice on how to pitch their ideas ahead of the final.
The winner will be announced at The Financial Mail's 'Breaking the Mould' Conference on Monday, March 14. The team that comes out on top will scoop a trophy from the Princess Royal, which will be presented at a special event held by The Mail on Sunday, March 22, as well as £3,000.
