A FAMILY-RUN electrical business in Reading picked up a coveted customer satisfaction award last Wednesday.

Electricians in Reading Ltd was announced as Trusted Trader of the Year 2016 by consumer group Which? at the tenth iteration of its annual awards ceremony in London.

The award is designed to showcase the Which? Trusted Traders scheme, which rewards businesses committed to maintaining consistently high levels of customer service.

Managing director Christopher Gordon, 28, said: “I am absolutely over the moon and cannot believe it is happening.”

Electricians in Reading competed against three other nominees, whittled down from about 6,500 eligible entrants.

Its name proudly stands alongside other Which? Awards recipients, including Waitrose, Google and Samsung.

Customers have praised the firm for its speed of response, value for money and friendliness, taking the time to send personal responses to every client who leaves a comment.

“I believe in the phrase that one unhappy customer will tell ten people whereas a happy customer will tell one person,” Mr Gordon added.

“We’re protective about making sure everyone is happy.”

The company has also been named Trader of the Month twice in the past year.

Paul Smith, managing director for Which? Trusted Traders, said: “It’s great to see a Which? Trusted Trader like Electricians in Reading Ltd recognised for the importance it places on putting customers at the heart of its business.

“Traders like it set the benchmark for the profession.”
