The great thing about being a press photographer is that you get a ringside seat to the news!
I mean, a photographer has to be there, at the event to photograph it whether it be a cheque presentation or a murder scene.
The first memory I have of being in awe of photography was when I was in primary school. We were all sat on the carpet and the teacher was reading a book about the first man on the moon. There were huge pictures in this book - One photograph showed an astronaut walking out the space shuttle and onto the moon. The teacher asked "Is this the first man on the moon?" Everyone kinda shouted "yes".
I, however was quiet and thinking about it.... then I remember shouting "NO, the person taking the photograph is standing on the moon!"
And so my love of photography began.
