A MAN has been arrested after a nine-year-old girl was cut with a knife during a brutal assault.
Thames Valley Police made an appeal to trace a specific man in connection with an assault on a girl and criminal damage in Whitley in October.
Following the appeal, a 24-year-old man from Reading was arrested today (November 10).
During the assault the victim sustained a cut to her hand after being attacked with a knife.
The man has been released under investigation.
A spokesman for Thames Valley Police said: "Earlier this month we published a wanted appeal, we are no longer making that appeal.
"A 24-year-old man from Reading was arrested on suspicion of assault and criminal damage in connection with incidents in Whitley on 18 October and 22 October, respectively."
