AN INSPIRATIONAL child has continued to grow her cherished locks for more than two years after she saw a girl with no hair on a family holiday.
Six-year-old Jasmine Allwood was enjoying a magical trip to Disney Land when she was shocked to see a girl her own age who did not have any hair.
Her parents explained she was 'poorly' and ever since Jasmine has been on a quest to grow her hair and donate it to Little Princess Trust.
The Thameside Primary School pupil is also raising money for Great Ormond Street Hospital by taking donations and she has already raised more than £250.
Her mother Sam said: "When she was only four years old we were at Disney Land and she saw a girl with no hair.
"We told her she was a bit poorly, but it was obviously not an easy question to answer at that age.
"She asked us if she could give her some of her hair and we explained that she could give it to a charity that helps other poorly children."
Jasmine, who lives on Vernon Crescent in Whitley, continued to grow her hair ever since.
The cutting will take place at Kimberley's Hair Studio on November 11.
"Jasmine has wanted to do this for ages and now her hair is long enough to cut and to donate it," added Sam.
"She has been growing her hair for more than two years and we realised she was serious about having it cut.
"It is fitting that she will be donating the money to Great Ormond Street to help lots of sick children, just like the child she saw on holiday.
"She has already reached her target, but we are still happy if people can donate.
"We are so proud of her for doing this and to have the determination to carry on for this long."
