WORKS of art created by a former hotelier after he was diagnosed Alzheimer's disease are being sold to fund research into the condition.

Alan Manning owned Ye Old George Hotel in Pangbourne for years entertaining patrons for years.

He moved to Florida in 1988 with his wife Angela in 1988.

Whilst living in Clearwater he was diagnosed with the degenerative condition in 2009. He died at home three years later.

Angela, who was the sole care giver during his illness, said: "Alan had never drawn before, but started to in the early stages of the disease.

"He created incredible masterpieces, just using a ruler and fine black pen, creating optical illusions with straight lines.

"We donated his brain to research to in the hope of finding a cure for this deadly disease.

"Since then I've been raising awareness and  money for the Alzheimer's Association.

"Friends and patrons of the hotel will remember Alan's generosity and incredible sense of humour."

Each piece costs £41 with all money raised going to the Alzheimer's Association.
