YOUNG people with a complex range of additional needs are celebrating after receiving a huge cash windfall from Children in Need.

Brookfields School in Tilehurst was awarded more than £18,000 to support a summer holiday club for students with learning difficulties.

Brandon Mills, head teacher at Brookfields School, said: “We are thrilled to have been awarded this much-needed grant from Children in Need, as it means that we can continue to provide this essential respite for our families and their children.”

The club will provide full access to games and trips to children and young adults who are unable to engage with mainstream activities, giving them the opportunity to engage with other and improve their self-confidence.

Simon Antrobus, chief executive of Children in Need, added: "A huge thank you to our generous supporters.

"It is wonderful to be able to award this new funding to projects working with disadvantaged children and young people in local communities right across the UK.

"The money so generously donated makes it possible for us to fund much needed projects like these, making a positive difference to young lives."
