Alok Sharma MP hosted an assembly to inspire children as part of their Parliament-themed week.
Pupils at The Wren School welcomed the Conservative politician and the minister for housing more than two years after he lobbied to open the free school.
He was appointed a patron of the school after working with the parent group to convince the Department for Education.
Mr Sharma, MP for Reading West, said: “I was delighted to be invited to hold an assembly at The Wren School and meet with their students.
“I am very proud the school is now fully open after all the hard work supporters put into campaigning for it. The new school buildings are coming up fast and I look forward to seeing these once all the work is complete.”
The Wren opened in 2015 on the former Elvian School site.
