A BY-PASSER who stepped in to try and stop a row in Tilehurst was then attacked by two men.

The victim, aged in his 30s, saw a man creating a scene near Sutton House at 1.30pm on Tuesday, June 13 and asked him to stop.

The man creating a disturbance turned and assaulted him before he was joined by an accomplice who joined the assault.

The victim was left with bruising to his face but did not need to go to hospital.

Another by-passer who saw the assault in The Meadway stepped in to protect the outnumbered victim.

Investigating Officer, Police Constable Bradley Pitt, said: "The location of this incident is a busy route through Tilehurst and would have been seen by numerous motorists.

"There was at least one witness who stopped to help the victim and I am particularly keen to speak to this witness as well as anyone else who may have seen this incident."

The first offender is Asian, around 5ft 7ins tall, with an average build. He wore blue jeans, blue shoes and a black t-shirt.

The second offender is also Asian, around 5ft 10ins tall, with a muscular build. He was wearing a dark blue t-shirt.

A 39-year-old and 32-year-old, both from Newham London have been arrested on suspicion of assault. They have been released under investigation.
