THE INVESTIGATION into a collision which saw a teenage boy struck by a car in Tilehurst last week has been dropped.

Thames Valley Police confirmed today it is no longer investigating after the schoolboy, who was aged 13, was hit by a car in Park Lane, Tilehurst.

Neighbouring roads were sealed off by police at the time and officers were seen knocking on residents' doors to discover what happened.

Meanwhile paramedics rushed to the scene shortly after 8am and took the child to hospital by ambulance.

However, police revealed he sustained only minor injuries and nobody was arrested following the collision.

A spokesman said: "The pedestrian – a 13 year-old boy – sustained minor injuries.

"There have been no arrests.

"We are no longer investigating."

Neighbours were shocked when they saw scores of emergency service vehicles arrive at the scene on Thursday morning.

Police cordoned off Park Lane where it meets Mayfair and also taped off part of Berkshire Drive.

One resident told the Chronicle: "The police came and knocked on our door earlier this morning. I was out at the time but my wife was here.

"She didn't see a thing.

"I don't know which way he was walking.

"My wife phoned me to tell me about it.

"She couldn't tell the police anything because she didn't see it happen."

The Chronicle understands the boy has now been discharged from Royal Berkshire Hospital.

A police spokesman said on Thursday: "We were called to a road traffic collision on Park Lane, Tilehurst next to the Mayfair roundabout at around 8.18am.

"A car and teenage boy were involved."
