A SPATE of assaults on teenagers in Tilehurst has caused suspicion among police who believe the incidents may be linked in some way.

Two 15-year-old boys and another aged 17 have been injured in the space of a month, with the latest assault resulting in a schoolboy being chased on his bike and beaten by a group of men on Friday, February 10.

The three different cases of ABH started in the New Year when a 17-year-old boy was attacked by a group of four men in an alleyway in Gratwicke Park, near Walnut Way, on January 10 at 7pm.

A week later, a boy aged 15 was walking along Dee Road at around 5.30pm when he was approached by two males who spoke to him before punching him repeatedly.

The teen suffered facial injuries and was rushed to hospital for treatment.

The latest attack saw another boy of the same age approached by three men as he cycled along School Road on the evening of February 10.

He was shouted at by the group of would-be attackers as he rode passed them, but he continued cycling.

He was then followed by the group of men, who caught up with him and told him there were more people waiting for him.

The victim was later assaulted, sustaining cuts and bruises to his face, but he managed to get back on his bike and flee the scene without needing treatment.

No items were stolen in any of the three incidents.

Thames Valley Police believe these three cases are all linked and they would like to speak to anyone who can assist them with their investigation.

Investigating officer, Susannah Procter, said: "We believe that these three incidents are linked, and I am appealing for anyone who witnessed any of these offences, or who has any information about them to call Thames Valley Police.

"People can do this by calling the Thames Valley Police non-emergency number on 101.

"If you do not want to speak directly to the police you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

"No personal details are taken, information is not traced or recorded and you will not go to court."
