A WOMAN had to be cut free from her car after a collision on Pierces Hill in Tilehurst on Saturday afternoon.

The 55-year-old is being treated for suspected spinal injuries at Royal Berkshire Hospital.

Crews from Caversham and Wokingham Road Fire Station were called at 5.03pm after two cars collided and they used extracting equipment to free one of the drivers.

It it understood that the driver of the other car is unharmed, but has received precautionary treatment.

Crew manager Matt Hoult from Caversham Road Fire Station said: "There was an RTC (Road Traffic Collision) involving two cars on Pierces Hill in Tilehurst at just after 5pm today.

"One 55-year-old female was cut free from her car and taken to Royal Berkshire Hospital with suspected spinal injuries.

"Crews from Caversham Road and Wokingham Road attended. We used cutting equipment to free the driver of the Nissan Duke and we were on the scene for about an hour."
