RESIDENTS in Tilehurst were left without water this morning after a pipe burst in City Road.

Around 130 households reported issues today as temperatures soared to some of the hottest of the year.

Engineers have since managed to isolate the problem and supply is beginning to return.

A set of temporary traffic lights will be put in place to allow workers to repair the fault.

A spokesman for Thames Water said: "We're really sorry to everyone whose water supply has been affected by our burst main.

"Our engineers have stopped the flow of water from the pipe and supplies are now beginning to return to normal.

"Our next step is to plan the repair job which will involve temporary traffic lights being set up on City Road.

"We'll work as quickly as we can to avoid keeping them there any longer than necessary."
