POLICE are hunting for two men after a man in his twenties was stabbed in Reading yesterday afternoon.

Officers began their search after the victim was found injured and is believed to have been struck by two kitchen knives.

He was rushed to hospital for treatment but his injuries were not said to be life-threatening.

The scene was cordoned off yesterday evening and neighbours reported seeing police searching in the area around Sidmouth Street and Queens Road from around 4.50pm.

Two men are currently being sought in connection with the assault but officers do not believe the wider public are at risk.

Both are described as black men with one being in his twenties, around 5ft 6ins and wearing a black Puffa style jacket and an army style tracksuit.

The other was wearing a dark blue Adidas tracksuit and Nike trainers.

DS Carl Bradford, of Force CID based at Reading, said: “This assault took place in the early hours of the evening, when people may have been passing by who saw some of the incident or the offenders afterward.

“I would ask anyone with information about this incident or who may have seen two men matching the description to come forward.

“I would like to reassure the public that we are doing everything we can to trace these two men. I do not believe this was a random attack and people should not be worried about going about their ordinary business in Reading.

“I would ask anyone with information to call 101 or Crimestoppers to help us find these men.”
