A BURGLAR who raided students' homes to steal jewellery and gadgets has been jailed for three years.

Casey Guiblin broke into the houses in Granby Gardens over the course of a weekend on June making off with possessions including a laptop, an iPad, cash and a games console.

The 27-year-old, of Lower Field Road, Coley, was unanimously convicted by a jury at Reading Crown Court following a two day trial.

Guiblin had forced his way into the properties in East Reading between June 13 and 14 of this year. and was arrested the following day.

Jurors returned their verdict on November 20 and he was sentenced on the same day to three years' imprisonment for three counts of burglary.

He denied the charges.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Sarah Johnston of Local CID based at Reading police station, said: "I am delighted that Guiblin has been convicted and given a lengthy sentence for the burglaries he committed.

"I hope the result brings some sense of justice to the victims, who should feel safe in their own homes, but Guiblin shattered that feeling of security by breaking into their properties in June this year.

"I hope this investigation sends out a very strong message to anyone thinking about committing such crimes in the Thames Valley that we will investigate and work with the Crown Prosecution Service to bring perpetrators to justice.

"Finally, I would like to praise all the staff and officers for their dedication to this investigation."
