A MAN remains in hospital six days after he was attacked by a gang of men and had his phone stolen.

The 37-year-old was assaulted by the group of four as he was walking in Coley Recreation Ground on Friday night.

He sustained serious injuries in the attack and was taken to hospital where he remains in recovery.

The man was confronted between 11pm and 11.30pm at the corner of the park in Holybrook Road near to the junction with St Saviours Road.

After assaulting him and taking his black Samsung phone the group fled in the direction of Berkeley Avenue.

Police have released descriptions of the four men who are said to be known to the victim.

Officers are not treating the incident as robbery as the phone was not believed to be the reason for that attack.

The first man is a black, in his late teens to early twenties, 5ft 8ins to 5ft 9ins tall, slim to medium build and wearing a dark, hooded jacket and dark jeans.

The second is also black, in his late teens to early twenties, 5ft 8ins to 5ft 10ins tall, slim and wearing a dark jacket with the hood up.

The third is either an Asian or black man in his late teens to early twenties, 5ft 7ins to 5ft 8ins tall, slim and wearing dark jeans and a dark jacket.

The fourth man is black, in his late teens to mid twenties, 5ft 8ins to 5ft 10ins tall, slim to medium build and wearing a dark jacket with the hood up and dark jeans.

Det Insp Stuart Bosley from Force CID, Reading, said: "This was a serious assault and the victim is still in hospital recovering from his injuries. I would like to hear from anyone who witnessed it, or has any information about it."
