A man was left with serious facial injuries after being beaten up on his doorstep after answering a knock at his front door.

Three men burst into the 29-year-old's home and attacked him while a woman watched.

As soon as he opened the door, the men launched a "nasty" attack, leaving him with a broken nose and a swollen face.

The man who laid helpless at his home in Arbour Close, Coley, last Wednesday before managing to call the emergency services after his attackers fled.

He needed hospital treatment for his injuries and has since been discharged.

The woman was described as white and in her early to mid 20's, approximately 5ft 4ins, with short dark brown or black hair.

The first man was black, in his mid to late twenties, approximately 5ft 11ins to 6ft, slim, with stubble. He was wearing dark tracksuit bottoms and a dark jacket with a hood.

The second man was black, in his early twenties, short and clean shaven. He was wearing a dark coloured jumper and dark tracksuit bottoms.

The third man is black and the shortest of the three men.

A spokesman for Thames Valley Police said they are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

The spokesman said: "At approximately 8.40pm the victim, a 29-year old-man, heard a knock at his front door in Arbour Close.

"When he answered the door, three men proceeded to assault him.

"A woman accompanied the men, but did not participate in the assault.

"This is a nasty incident of GBH, but I want to take this chance to reassure the public that while we need their help in identifying the three men and woman involved, we do not believe there is a threat to the wider community."
