West Berkshire Council has teamed up with the Carbon Trust to help local businesses save energy and reduce their carbon footprint.

For the next two years, the Carbon Trust is providing an a support package to help small and medium sized companies in England identify energy saving opportunities and install energy efficient equipment in their business.

As part of this support scheme the Carbon Trust is running a series of workshops to help businesses learn about the Green Business Fund and work out how best to identify and implement the energy saving opportunities available to them.

A workshop will be held by the Carbon Trust in partnership with West Berkshire Council on Wednesday 31 May at the Council offices in Newbury.

Speaking about the workshop Janet Duffield, West Berkshire Council’s Economic Development officer said: “This workshop will help local businesses understand how they could reduce their energy use and reduce their energy bills at the same time. Cash flow can make or break smaller businesses so help lowering energy bills could make a big difference to them.

“The workshops are part of a comprehensive package of support we offer to small and medium –sized businesses across the district. In West Berkshire we have approximately 3000 small and medium-sized companies and they make an important contribution to the local economy as well as providing valuable services for local people. We will continue to support them with workshops such as these to ensure West Berkshire remains an attractive place to do business.”
