TWO men have been arrested after an assault in Reading town centre.

One of the men was taken into custody on Sunday on suspicion of wounding with intent, but has since been released.

The other, a 21-year-old, was arrested yesterday (May 10) on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent.

He remains in custody.

Both arrests were made in connection with an assault in St Mary's Butts on April 25.

Thames Valley Police is appealing for any information to assist the investigation.

A spokesman said: "The arrests are in connection with an assault that happened on April 25 in St Mary's Butts, Reading.

"One of the men, aged 32, from Reading, was arrested on Sunday on suspicion of Section 18 wounding with intent. He has been released under investigation.

"The other man, aged 21, from Reading, was arrested yesterday (10/5) on suspicion of Section 18 GBH with intent. He remains in custody at this time.

"Thames Valley Police is continuing to appeal for information in connection with the incident.
