A MAN is set to appear before magistrates this afternoon [Wednesday] charged with beating another man.

Augustus Struckatis, aged 25 and of Amersham Road, Reading, was charged with one count of grievous bodily harm with intent and one count of assault by beating.

Yesterday [Tuesday] a man was attacked at around 8am in Amersham Road and was taken to hospital, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

A spokesman for Thames Valley Police said: "Thames Valley Police has charged a man in connection with an assault in Reading on Tuesday.

"Augustus Struckatis, aged 25, of Amersham Road, Caversham has been charged with one count of grievous bodily harm with intent and one count of assault by beating.

"A man in his twenties received injuries, he was taken to hospital for treatment where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

"A scene watch is currently in place."

Struckatis will appear at Reading Magistrates' Court this afternoon.
