AN INQUEST is set to be held into the death of a student who died while travelling in Bali.

Jack Camilleri, a 20-year-old from Mill Road, Caversham, is believed to have died following an 'accident' in an Indonesian village called Kuta.

An online fundraising page set up in his memory is aiming to raise £20,000 to buy a rowing boat as a tribute to the Oxford Brookes student.

More than £11,000 has already been collected for the former Oratory School pupil, who was a keen rower at Upper Thames Rowing Club and the Oxford Brookes University Boat Club.

The JustGiving page reads: "It is with great sadness that we all found out the tragic passing of Jack Camilleri who was taken too young following an accident while travelling over the summer in Bali.

Reading Chronicle:

"Jack was a great friend to all he met and he touched so many lives. In his memory we would like to raise funds to put towards purchasing a rowing boat in his name as a memorial funded by his friends, family and loved ones.

"We would like to raise these funds to purchase this boat as a memorial in Jack's name.

"It is a memorial and can give back to the sport, which gave Jack so much joy and drive and a sport in which he created so many memories and friends through."

Berkshire Coroner's Office opened the inquest on September 11, but a date for the inquest hearing is yet to be fixed.
